They are economical compared to real wood.
Require very little maintenance, just a light dust mop.
Very scratch resistant.
Can bridge over many sub floors including ceramic tile.
Look like a real wood floor.

DISADVANTAGES

Have a different sound when walking on (slightly hollow)
Are very suseptable to moisture.
